Uncontested DivorceNot all divorces end in long court battles. In fact, the majority of divorces throughout Kentucky are uncontested. An uncontested divorce is one that is resolved outside of the courtroom, through mediation or another out-of-court agreement. The final result is no less binding than a contested divorce in court, but the outcome is often more beneficial to all parties involved (both spouses and any children). In an uncontested divorce, the spouses have an opportunity to reach a flexible agreement that works, rather than have a judge make decisions that may not be the most advantageous for everyone involved.
Talking to a divorce lawyer is one of the most important steps to take when considering a divorce. Even if you and your spouse agree on all or most of the terms of your divorce, it will be helpful to have a legal professional to ensure that your rights and interests are protected.
There are various important issues that must be agreed upon in an uncontested divorce, including property division, spousal support, child custody, visitation and child support. Be sure you have an experienced attorney at your side to ensure you and your children's futures are well protected.
